Triathlon Training Opportunities for All Levels
Court One Triathlon Club (C1TC) is one of the Lansing area’s premier triathlon training clubs. Our coaches offer training for athletes at all levels – from beginners getting ready for their first triathlon to experienced racers chasing big goals like 140.6 and 70.3 distance events. In this supportive, enthusiastic environment, everyone benefits from training as a team while receiving individual instruction.
Structured Triathlon Training
C1TC’s main training season is January through May. For five consecutive four-week sessions, our coaches lead athletes through a structured training program that starts with base building and increases in intensity to develop endurance and speed. All eyes are on preparing for an early summer triathlon and setting you up for a successful season!
Athletes choose their training class based on a combination of their experience level and race distance. Classes meet on Saturday mornings and last approximately three hours. Each class includes a combination of the following:
- A swim workout, complete with drills to improve your swimming technique. Our coaches have been trained by Olympian Sheila Taormina and love working with swimmers of all levels. This is often the most intimidating part of triathlon, and we’ll provide the instruction necessary to help you succeed! We also provide swim-specific strength training.
- A bike workout, designed to build endurance and speed. You either use Court One’s state-of-the-art Keiser spin bikes or bring your own bike and trainer, depending on the training class you select.
- A run workout, including varying levels of intensity to maximize your running ability. Runs are held outside, except in extreme conditions, and use the low-traffic areas around Court One.
Additional Training Opportunities
Our coaches offer year-round training opportunities for anyone, regardless of whether they’re participating in the C1TC Saturday classes. These include a weekday evening Skills and Drills swim class, various open training opportunities in the summer and group trainer rides during the winter. Visit the Court One Triathlon Club Facebook page for the most current information.
C1TC Team Perks
Excellent coaching aside, our athletes will tell you the best part about C1TC is the support and encouragement we get from each other. We are genuinely enthusiastic about helping each other reach our goals, and enjoy forming friendships outside our training sessions, with events like team meals, movies and the occasional escape room – a true test of teamwork!
Other perks include exclusive team discounts and access to our private Facebook group.
C1TC and Court One Membership
Members and non-members alike are welcome to join C1TC! There are many benefits to being a Court One member, though: you receive discounts on Friday/Saturday classes, and participation in Group Exercise Classes like the weekday Skills and Drills swim class is included in your membership fee.
